Here I am, excited to have finally gotten this blog started! I long to find a creative outlet beneficial to women and moms who are seemingly stuck in survival mode. I get so excited about things that I find useful and I can’t wait to share valuable material to help out my tribe of women.
A mom, a career woman, a wife, a student, whether you are all of the above all at once, we woman are expected to “do it all.”
As far as I can remember I have always been on the go–working full time and going to school. My first degree was in Human Services because I wanted to help people. Although a noble cause, it did not take long for me to realize that there are multiple and more productive ways to extend a helping hand.
I decided to return to school once again.
Working full time while taking nursing pre-requisite classes, I eventually tackled the BSN program all while caring for a 1-year-old. Talk about time management to the tee! Then, life settled for a while and I decided to move forward and be a Nurse Practitioner. By this time, I had two children, 2-year-old and a 6-year-old. Back to school, I went working full time and raising kids. Eventually, I had to keep cutting back on my hours (and recruit the help of my own mom) to focus on my future career and having some time for my family.
So you see, I’m no stranger to being in survival mode. I guess I’ve been living in this zone for years!!! However, I am determined to get out of this zone and focus on self-care and my family.
I love my career, but it’s a tough field that requires finding my balance when it comes to self-care.
I’ve also seen the need to reach out to help more women, many who are in the same boat that I am. So here I am, writing and sharing. I hope you find value in what I write and join me in being accountable to find the work-life balance we all yearn for.
