Making time for exercise should be made a priority. Let’s face it, life gets so busy and we get so tired. Working out is the last thing we want to do after getting off work. F45 recently opened in Anchorage. Since my workout-holic friend Lisa introduced me to it, I’ve been hooked! So what is exactly F45 training? Let me enlighten you on why its good for you and why I love it!
F45 Training review: Why it’s good for you and why I love it!
Are you one of those people that unless you start your day with exercise, it’s never gonna happen late in the afternoon? Working out takes planning and motivation. I’m no stranger to signing up for routines, trying home DVD workouts. In the end, my nemesis is losing interest, getting injured or not having the time. The workout is either too long, too mundane.
Enter F45. Here are the reasons why I like it:
- 45 min of functional fitness workout you can truly feel.
- There is no doubt there is no wasted effort or wasted time. After 45 min, you definitely will feel that you worked out. As a mom, this is important to me. As much as I’d like to dedicate a lot of time for exercise, let’s be real. Working mom’s juggle a lot. We need effective exercise routines that can be accomplished in a realistic amount of time.
- Saturdays are a little longer, the workouts are one hour. I go to first am class on Saturdays. It’s a good way to start the weekend. I actually miss it and feel a little weak if I miss my Saturday F45.
- Live DJ on Saturdays!
- Staff is motivating. No pressure just pure motivation and assistance.
- The best reason is class times. The times work just right for my schedule. If I don’t make it the morning, there is a class as soon as I get off work. And another one if I get off later.

A little history on F45:
Created by fitness trainer in Australia in 2012. The concept is 45 minutes of high-intensity circuit training. The stations and timing vary with each workout and is different each day. every day and every week, the workouts are always different. The only guarantee is that you will get a great workout!
I am fortunate to interview the owner of F45 Midtown, Anchorage, Mireya de la Pena. Here is F45 according to her own words:
What is F45?
To me, F45 is about fitness and community. The team training aspect enables people of all ages and abilities to train side-by-side in an energetic challenging yet achievable circuit workout that changes every day.
We offer two nationally certified personal trainers in every class that demonstrates, assist and support each class. This encourages proper form and offers modifications to those who may be recovering from an injury or rehabilitation.
But even those who may have strayed from physical fitness and need to work up more slowly for those who are already athletes and are looking for more of a challenge, or at 45 workouts can also be made more challenging by increasing intensity and or weight.
What are the benefits of an F45 workout?
In our Studio, you are guaranteed to get the very best possible workout in 45 minutes of your day! F45 combines cardio, resistance and agility exercises in one routine that systematically works every muscle in your body. This, of course, is if you attend classes regularly.
Some routines are more focused on lifting and others on agility and cardio. There is literally something for everyone! Since the classes change every single day, there is no chance of getting bored. Our trainers make it fun and working out with your friends and family adds to the satisfaction side – we have many couples that train together
Approximately how many calories are burned in one F45 workout?
You can burn anywhere between 300 to 600 cal depending on the intensity or the length of the routine. Our signature Hollywood Saturday workouts are 60 minutes of high-intensity training – a true calorie burn there!
Even with 45-minute workouts, your body continues to burn calories long after you leave our studio. When I work out early in the morning that is enough to energize me for the entire day. Love, love!
Any fitness or health tips for busy moms?
Being “busy“ is all too often the most common excuse for busy people and especially busy moms! But health and fitness are so important! It is no less important than sleep and healthy eating.
When you were stronger, leaner and more active you will have more energy for your family. Exercising is proven to help with moods.
A happy, healthy mom and wife benefits everyone and especially you. Your family will emulate what you do. When they see you prioritize exercising your life, chances are they will do the same as they grow older and reflect back on life. You’re worth it.
Make the time, and at F45 it only takes 45 minutes per day and if you cannot exercise every day, start with two days or three days a week. The benefits are still amazing.

F45 is a functional fitness training program. The classes are 45 min long on weekdays and 1 hour on Saturdays. I find it motivating to attend the classes. Additionally, it provides the stress relief needed after work (if you choose to come after). The circuit program format provides for a supportive team workout. All the better if you get to see your friends in class.
Note: I am not compensated by F45 to provide this review. I have been attending the workouts for a couple of months now.
